DESIGNED AROUND THE CAR: AUDI R8 TYPE 4S × FACEWHEELS FW1039 20"
The Audi R8 Type 4S is defined by its low mid-engine stance, compact cabin and unmistakable separation between the body and its signature side blades.
For this build, FACEWHEELS FW1039 custom forged wheels were specified in Brushed Silver, with a staggered 20 × 8.5J front and 20 × 11J rear fitment.
The objective was not to overwhelm the original design. It was to create a clearer stance, strengthen the wheel-to-body proportion and introduce a finish that feels intentional from every viewing angle.
FLORET SILVER METALLIC × BRUSHED SILVER
The relationship between the R8's Floret Silver Metallic bodywork and the Brushed Silver wheels establishes the visual direction of the complete build.
Rather than creating a sharp color contrast, the wheel finish develops the metallic character already present in the factory paint. The result is a cohesive silver-on-silver combination with enough variation in surface texture to keep the wheels clearly defined.
Under direct light, the body reveals its bright metallic highlights while the brushed wheel surfaces emphasize the direction and shape of each spoke. In softer light, both finishes become deeper and more restrained.
The ceramic brake hardware remains clearly visible through the open spoke structure, preserving the technical character expected from the R8.
FACEWHEELS FW1039 — SCULPTED FOR DEFINITION
The FACEWHEELS FW1039 uses a sharp split-spoke pattern that radiates from a compact center and opens toward the outer rim.
This geometry gives the wheel a clear identity at a distance and greater surface detail when viewed up close. The design remains open enough to preserve depth around the brakes, while its transitions create a strong visual connection between the center section and the rim.
Rather than acting as a separate decorative element, the FW1039 introduces structure beneath the body and gives the lower half of the R8 a more deliberate technical character.
20 × 8.5J FRONT / 20 × 11J REAR — PROPORTION WITH PURPOSE
The staggered 20 × 8.5J front and 20 × 11J rear configuration emphasizes the R8's wide rear track and mid-engine supercar proportions.
Diameter and width work together throughout this setup. The wheels fill the arches with the correct visual scale, while the tires remain an active part of the composition instead of disappearing beneath oversized rims.
The wider rear fitment reinforces the visual weight around the engine and rear axle. From the front three-quarter, side and rear three-quarter views, the completed stance appears balanced and purposeful.
BRUSHED SILVER REVEALS THE FORM
Brushed Silver changes naturally as light moves across the wheel.
Direct light emphasizes the edges and raised surfaces of the spokes. In shade, the design becomes deeper and more unified. This variation allows the FW1039 to retain its dimensional character without relying on excessive decoration or contrast.
The directional brushed surface also makes the design easier to read in motion, where the spoke pattern and outer edge form a clear graphic relationship with the Floret Silver Metallic body above them.
