DESIGNED AROUND THE CAR: FERRARI 296 GTB × FACEWHEELS FW1061 20"/21"
The Ferrari 296 GTB combines compact mid-engine proportions with a highly technical, performance-focused design. Every surface serves a purpose, from the sculpted front bodywork to the tightly controlled airflow around the sides and rear.
For this project, the goal was to create a forged wheel setup that would complement the 296 GTB’s sophisticated engineering while giving the car a more distinctive visual identity.
The result is a custom staggered FACEWHEELS FW1061 configuration finished in Gloss Brushed Silver, pairing a 20-inch front wheel with a 21-inch rear wheel for a more pronounced and purposeful stance.
ALLUMINIO OPACO × GLOSS BRUSHED SILVER
The Alluminio Opaco exterior gives the Ferrari a cool, technical character. Its satin metallic appearance highlights the shape of the body without distracting from the aerodynamic details and exposed carbon-fiber components.
Gloss Brushed Silver was selected for the FW1061 wheels to maintain this refined metallic theme while creating enough contrast to define the wheel design.
The brushed surface reveals the direction and depth of the machining, while the gloss clear coat adds clarity and reflection. Under direct light, the spokes appear brighter and more dimensional. In shadow, the finish becomes deeper and more restrained.
Together, Alluminio Opaco and Gloss Brushed Silver create a cohesive combination that feels modern, precise and unmistakably performance focused.
FACEWHEELS FW1061 — SCULPTED PRECISION WITH OPEN PERFORMANCE
The FACEWHEELS FW1061 features a ten-spoke layout shaped around the Ferrari 296 GTB’s proportions and braking hardware.
Each spoke extends cleanly from the center toward the outer rim before transitioning into a subtly sculpted profile. The open arrangement exposes the Ferrari braking system and yellow calipers, adding both visual depth and a stronger sense of mechanical purpose.
Elongated relief details around the center section reduce visual mass and reinforce the technical character of the design. FACEWHEELS engraving and Ferrari center caps complete the installation with a clean, integrated appearance.
The design is expressive without becoming excessive. Its strength comes from proportion, surface control and the way every detail interacts with the car.
20 × 9J FRONT / 21 × 11.5J REAR — A DELIBERATE STAGGER
This project uses a 20 × 9J front and 21 × 11.5J rear configuration.
Keeping the 20-inch front wheel preserves the visual lightness and steering-focused character of the front axle. The larger and wider 21-inch rear wheel strengthens the stance around the driven axle and fills the rear bodywork with greater authority.
The staggered diameter follows the natural balance of the Ferrari 296 GTB. From the side, it introduces a subtle forward rake. From the rear three-quarter angle, the wider rear setup emphasizes the car’s planted proportions and mid-engine architecture.
Rather than relying on excessive size, the fitment is controlled and intentional. The wheels sit naturally within the bodywork, supporting the original shape of the car while giving it a more individual presence.
GLOSS BRUSHED SILVER REVEALS THE FORM
Gloss Brushed Silver is especially effective on a wheel with the FW1061’s sculpted geometry.
The directional brushed texture follows the surfaces of the spokes and makes changes in depth easier to see. Highlights move across the wheel as the viewing angle changes, revealing details that a flatter finish might conceal.
The clear gloss layer adds definition without making the wheel appear overly bright. It also creates a polished relationship with the metallic bodywork while remaining distinct from the Alluminio Opaco exterior.
Against the yellow brake calipers and exposed carbon-fiber elements, the silver finish keeps the overall composition balanced and allows every component to retain its own identity.

For the Ferrari 296 GTB, that means respecting the car’s compact proportions, advanced aerodynamics and concentrated visual energy. The FW1061 achieves this through an open spoke structure, carefully controlled surface transitions and a staggered configuration developed around the shape of the car.
The installation adds presence without overwhelming the original design. It remains unmistakably Ferrari, but now carries a more personal and distinctive expression.
