DESIGNED AROUND THE CAR: VOLKSWAGEN CC SHOOTING BRAKE × FACEWHEELS FW160 19"
The Volkswagen CC Shooting Brake combines the low, flowing roofline of a grand tourer with the longer rear profile of an estate. Its frameless doors, continuous shoulder line and broad rear bodywork give it a distinctive stance before any modification begins.
For this build, FACEWHEELS FW160 custom forged wheels were specified in Satin Gunmetal, with a square 19 × 9J fitment.
The objective was to strengthen the car's wheel-to-body proportion while preserving the clean, understated character of the original design. The completed setup feels wider, lower and more deliberate without distracting from the shape of the car.
SILVER METALLIC × SATIN GUNMETAL
The relationship between the silver metallic bodywork and the Satin Gunmetal wheels establishes the visual direction of the build.
The body reflects its surroundings with bright highlights and soft transitions, while the darker wheel finish anchors the lower half of the car. The contrast is clear but controlled: enough to separate the wheel design from the exterior without making the combination feel disconnected.
In direct sunlight, the metallic paint becomes brighter and the raised surfaces of the spokes reveal a softer graphite tone. In shade, both finishes deepen, giving the CC Shooting Brake a more restrained and architectural presence.
FACEWHEELS FW160 — CLEAN STRUCTURE, CLEAR PROPORTION
The FACEWHEELS FW160 uses an open multi-spoke layout that moves outward from a compact center and gives each spoke a clean visual path toward the rim.
That structure adds detail beneath the CC's smooth body surfaces while keeping the wheel light in appearance. The open areas preserve depth around the brake hardware, and the spoke transitions remain easy to read from side and three-quarter views.
Rather than appearing as a separate decorative element, the FW160 supports the long character line of the car and gives the lower body a stronger visual foundation.
19 × 9J — A SQUARE FITMENT WITH PURPOSE
The square 19 × 9J configuration maintains consistent proportions at all four corners and suits the balanced architecture of the CC Shooting Brake.
The 19-inch diameter gives the FW160 enough scale to fill the arches and display its spoke geometry clearly. The 9J width adds presence without removing the tire from the overall composition.
Viewed from the side, the wheel diameter remains in proportion with the long body. From the front and rear three-quarter angles, the added width gives the car a more planted stance while preserving a natural relationship with the fenders.
SATIN GUNMETAL REVEALS THE FORM
Satin Gunmetal gives the FW160 a technical finish without the glare of a highly polished surface.
Light settles gradually across the spokes, emphasizing the raised edges while allowing the recessed areas to remain darker. This tonal variation makes the wheel easier to read at different angles and brings out the depth of the design.
Against the silver metallic exterior, the finish creates a purposeful contrast that remains refined. It adds definition without overpowering the bodywork or competing with the car's bright exterior details.
