The Land Rover Defender 110 L663 combines an upright body, short overhangs and strongly defined wheel arches with the practical proportions of a five-door off-road vehicle.
For this build, FACEWHEELS FW176 custom forged wheels were specified in Gloss Black, using a staggered 23 × 10J front and 23 × 11.5J rear configuration.
The larger diameter gives the Defender a stronger road presence, while the multi-spoke design introduces precise detail beneath its broad bodywork. The completed setup feels substantial without losing the recognizable character of the Defender 110.
GONDWANA STONE × GLOSS BLACK
The Gondwana Stone exterior gives the Defender a warm metallic appearance that moves between bronze, taupe and deep brown under changing light.
Its natural, earth-toned character suits the Defender’s utilitarian shape. Reflections across the doors and squared wheel arches reveal the metallic finish, while shaded areas appear darker and more restrained.
Gloss Black connects the wheels with the contrasting roof, window surrounds, wheel-arch trim and other dark exterior details. The result is a cohesive two-tone composition built around the vehicle’s original design.
FACEWHEELS FW176 — MULTI-SPOKE DETAIL FOR THE DEFENDER
The FACEWHEELS FW176 uses an intricate multi-spoke structure that extends from a compact center toward the outer edge of the wheel.
Each spoke divides into sharply defined branches, creating depth without relying on a heavy solid center. The open areas preserve visibility around the braking hardware and prevent the 23-inch wheel from appearing visually dense.
This technical geometry creates a deliberate contrast with the Defender’s broad, simple body panels. The wheel adds detail where the body design is most substantial, producing a more focused side profile.
23 × 10J FRONT / 23 × 11.5J REAR — CONTROLLED PROPORTION
The staggered 23 × 10J front and 23 × 11.5J rear configuration gives the Defender a balanced but more assertive stance.
The front wheels maintain a precise relationship with the front arches, while the additional rear width adds visual weight beneath the Defender’s square rear body. Using the same 23-inch diameter at both ends keeps the side profile consistent.
The tire sidewalls remain visible around the larger wheels, preserving a clear separation between wheel, tire and body. This keeps the finished installation proportional rather than making the wheels appear disconnected from the vehicle.
GLOSS BLACK SHARPENS THE DESIGN
Gloss Black gives the FW176 a deep reflective surface that changes with the surrounding light.
Direct reflections reveal the individual spoke edges and layered geometry. In shadow, the spokes merge into a darker overall form that connects naturally with the Defender’s black exterior trim.
Against Gondwana Stone, the finish creates a strong tonal contrast while remaining integrated with the rest of the vehicle. The wheels become a clear part of the design without overpowering the exterior color.
BUILT AROUND THE DEFENDER 110 L663
A successful Defender wheel package depends on the relationship between diameter, width, tire profile and the position of each wheel beneath the squared arches.
The FW176 was selected to strengthen those proportions. Its 23-inch diameter fills the arches, the staggered widths support the Defender’s broad stance and the multi-spoke structure provides detail beneath the vehicle’s simple geometric surfaces.
A matching FW176 wheel is also mounted in the Defender’s rear spare-wheel position. This extends the same design across every visible wheel and gives the complete build a consistent finish from the side and rear views.
